The research and study activity organized by FLTRP was not just an overseas trip, but an experience that brought multifaceted growth. The most direct benefit was breaking the “textbook filter”; another was forcing myself to step out of my comfort zone. In a foreign environment, buying a bottle of water required practicing spoken language, reading street signs meant recognizing new words. At first, I was so nervous I stuttered, but when I realized that “no one laughs if you make a mistake,” I became much bolder in expressing myself—this “fearlessness of making mistakes” is far more valuable than memorizing 100 vocabulary words. In summary, this research trip benefited me greatly and, if given the chance, I hope to follow FLTRP again to explore new worlds next year.
